Tatami omote:

For cutting use (Battodo), soaked in water for at least 2 hours (Quick Version) before the cutting session.

The traditional target is the braided cutting mat made of rice straw.

The braided mat is supposed to provide the same density as a member of the body. For this, the mat is often rolled around a section of bamboo (green) to provide resistance equivalent to that of a bone.
