Tachi Nioh
Reference :
P04DH101
This 1095 Hamon blade is stored in this Tachi Nioh (太 刀). The Tachi was primarily used by armored samurai with one hand on horseback from the Heian period (794-1185) until the Muromachi period. The saber Tachi said was hanging from the left waist with the edge facing the ground so you could shoot it faster when facing enemies on the ground.
Due to its magnificent appearance, having a Tachi style sword mount has become a social status among the samurai.
The name Nioh comes from the legend that the Tachi blade forged by Kiyotsuna (the founder of the Nioh school) was able to save the statue of Nioh by cutting the chain that was connected to it when the temple of Nioh was on fire. Another theory was that the blacksmiths of Nioh lived in a village called Nioh no Sho (二 保 庄) and began to be called blacksmiths of Nioh.
Sugata (Blade Style): Shinogi-zukuri.
Hand forged, No-hi and Chu-Kissaki (tip) curved blade. Real Hamon (Suguha) on the blade made with clay. The hardness of Mune is 50 ° HRC and Ha (blade edge) is 60 ° HRC Rockwell. Razor blade.

Fuchi-Kashira (Pommel): The Gosan-no Kiri (五 三 の 桐) and chrysanthemum patterns are arranged alternately. The Kiri pattern (桐, paulownia) consists of three straight inflorescences and three leaves, this plant pattern was once used by the imperial family and national rulers of the time. However, today it is often used by ordinary people.
Tsuka (Handle): Wood, suitable for silk. Length 26.5 cm
Tsuka-ito (Fabric around handle): premium Japanese cotton fitted.

The decoration remains in good condition, and the contrast of the black and gold colors gives us a noble impression. You will find heart marks at all four corners and at the top, bottom, right and left. This design is called Inome (猪 の 目) patten in Japanese and is often seen in the architecture of shrines or temples.
Saya (Scabbard): Curved according to the Sori of the blade.
