Katana Dotanuki (同田貫)

Dotanuki is a Japanese sword-making school where there has been a group of Higo swordsmiths active since the Eiroku era, based at Dotanuki (place name) in Kikuchi, Higo Province, Kyushu. The characteristics of Dōtanuki katanas are considered rather gloomy, due to their lack of frills that most other Japanese swords have adopted. Indeed, the smiths of this school preferred to focus on creating robust blades, capable of resisting on the battlefield and remaining intact over time. To be manipulated day after day, year after year and bequeath to his descendants.
